EuroRec to be nominated by CEN BT - TECHNICAL BOARD as Registration Authority for EN 1086: 2005

2 SUBJECT : Registration Authority for EN 1068: 2005

3 BACKGROUND:

A Registration Authority is the competent body assigned by the CEN Technical Board with the task of implementing the requirements of a European Standard when the said requirements involve the assignment and registration of unique, unambiguous names according to the procedures described in the European Standard.

Guidelines for a CEN Registration Authority were adopted by BT through resolution BT 146/1994.

By resolution 787 of 2004-03-23 CEN/TC 251 Health informatics nominates the European Institute for Health Records (EuroRec) as the Registration Authority for EN 1068: 2005 Health informatics - Registration of coding systems (given in Annex 1 to BT N 7492).

Information about EuroRec and its suitability as the Registration Authority for EN 1068 is given in Annex 2 of BT N 7492.

4 DRAFT RESOLUTION :

BT noting,

- The Guidelines for Registration Authorities given in Resolution BT 146/1994;

- the decision of CEN/TC 251 Health informatics (in its resolution 787 of 2004-03-23) to nominate the European Institute for Health Records (EuroRec) as the Registration Authority for EN 1068: 2005 Health informatics - Registration of coding systems (see Annex 1 to BT N 7492);

- the information about EuroRec and its suitability as the Registration Authority for EN 1068 provided in Annex 2 to BT N 7492; decides to assign EuroRec as the Registration Authority for EN 1068: 2005 Health informatics

- Registration of coding systems.

BT asks CMC to communicate this decision and the Guidance for Registration Authorities given in Resolution BT 146/1994 to both CEN/TC 251 and EuroRec.

CEN/TC 251 Health Informatics decides to recommend EuroRec to CEN/BT as the registration authority for prEN 1068 Health informatics - Registration of coding schemes.

The resolution was taken by unanimity.
